What does “neurodivergent” mean? Is it the same as ADHD?
To be neurodivergent simply means your brain works in ways that differ from what is considered “typical”. ADHD is one form of neurodivergence, alongside autism and other conditions. Many people have more than one type of neurodivergence.
Can I start coaching even if I do not have a diagnosis?
Definitely! ADHD is approximately 80 per cent heritable. If you have a close relative, a sibling, parent or child who has been diagnosed, and feel you also meet many of the criteria, it’s worthwhile having a chat.
Coaching is practical and focuses on everyday issues such as memory, issues, time management, emotional regulation and routines. Many people benefit from coaching even if they are not completely sure they are neurodivergent.
Do you offer online or in-person sessions?
Yes, both.
Most sessions take place online on Zoom. Some people, especially for a first session, prefer to meet in person. We can meet at my Brighton office in Brisbane’s northern suburbs, or at the Sandgate–Brighton foreshore for a walk and talk session.
Are you a therapist or counsellor?
No. I am not a counsellor or therapist and I do not have a clinical or medical background. I am not qualified to diagnose ADHD and I do not provide psychotherapy or counselling.
Coaching uses practical, evidence-informed strategies that help people with ADHD better manage emotions, relationships, habits and daily life.
If you are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety or other mental health concerns, I strongly encourage you to seek professional help. A trusted GP is a good starting point for up-to-date advice and referrals.
From 1 December 2025, GPs in Queensland can diagnose and treat adult ADHD, which is an important step towards improving access and affordability.
What about relevant and lived experience?
Several of my close family members are neurodivergent, including my adult son. I have lived with ADHD for many years and I am also a PTSD survivor. I have taught and supported many neurodivergent students and young adults, including those with ADHD, autism and combined AuDHD diagnoses, through my work as a high school teacher, trainer and support worker. These experiences inform my practice with care and respect.
Who do you work with?
Most of my clients are late-diagnosed women, with or without a formal diagnosis. But I welcome clients from all backgrounds, genders and sexualities, including interstate and overseas clients.
I work with students/young people and their families on a case-by-case basis, subject to availability.
What is your cancellation policy?
I use a simple “more than / less than” rule.
Bookings cancelled more than 24 hours before an appointment can be rescheduled without a fee.
Bookings cancelled less than 24 hours before an appointment incur a fee of 50 per cent of the session rate.
